Lesson 3: Module C | Goals and Impact

Lesson 3: Module C

Think about everything we have gone over so far and how it impacts what you do. These topics extend into everything we will talk about from here on out and lay the groundwork for what is really important.

Your actions have a much larger impact than you realize. Be careful and cognizant of this as you go about your job.

What are your overall goals as a coach or clinician?

What is really driving the needle forward?

How can we make the biggest impact on each person we interact with?

The study I referenced can be found in further readings. Stevans et al 2021 shows that chances of pain becoming chronic becomes ever increasing as the number of non guideline-based treatments in the first 21 days. When there is only 1 there is a 27% chance of pain becoming chronic. For 2 the odds go up to 35%, then for 3 46% and for 4 or more chances are more than 50% of pain becoming chronic. The decisions we make can stick with a person for the rest of their life.
