Lesson 2: Module A | Epistemology

Lesson 2: Module A

In Module A we'll start to discuss epistemology, the theory of knowledge.  "How do we "know" things?" will be a recurring question this week, along with how to assimilate new knowledge into your training system.

Some thoughts (paul) - Have virtue in your pursuit of knowledge. Don’t adopt knowledge without checking it out yourself.

  • It’s easy to see something online. Try it get some sort of result even if it wasn’t from said intervention and confirm your bias

  • Always seeking out things that will disconfirm your thought

  • Easier to believe what you’re told then to look into it yourself.

  • If you really want to believe something you have to do your best to try and prove it wrong don’t try and find evidence that supports you. Idea of falsifiability

  • Start with null. Start with an idea is incorrect and try to and prove it right

  • It needs to be intentional and voluntary

  • Willingness to self examines and admit you’re wrong.

  • Be aware of where you get your knowledge.

  • Surrounding yourself with like-minded people - people with growth mindsets that want to be better. Not necessarily people agree with you.

Doing it for the gram. This got more likes. I need to do more like it. What works is usually boring unfortunately

To think we have it all figured out is wrong. Looking back so much has changed and moving forward so much is going to change. We are complex systems. We can’t think we have it all figured out
