Lesson 7: Module H | Periodization
Lesson 7 | Module H
In order for training to be successful it must be organized. Periodization is the way we go about organizing training but traditional periodization models leave a lot to be desired. There is no research showing any one periodization model to be superior to another. Instead, we must take in to account the individual in front of us and come up with a model that will best fit their needs.
Traditional periodization models leave a lot to be desired and fall short in most occasions. These models tend to only work when everything goes exactly according to plan and we all know nothing ever goes according to plan! If an athlete is progressing too fast these models will hold that athlete back. If an athlete is progressing too slow these models will punish the athlete and run them into the ground. These models also do not allow one to adjust for life events or injury!
