Lesson 4: Module B
This module builds off the prior with a discussion on the concept of therapeutic alliance and it’s 3 main components (agreement on goals, interventions, and affective bond between provider and individual). Pulling from the discussion points on the biopsychosocial model, we now have a greater understanding for why therapeutic alliance is important to consider in both fitness and healthcare spaces.
The module continues to discuss scope of practice and referrals in fitness as well as pain contingent vs pain threshold hold approaches to training and rehab. The module concludes with an example of an analogy that can be utilized to discuss stressors (allostasis) and how this impacts the pain experience, again relating this information back to the biopsychosocial model of health and fitness.
