Powerlifting Helped Heal My Relationship with My Body by Chrissy King
We love hearing stories about how powerlifting helps people in more ways than just getting stronger. Chrissy King tells her story of how powerlifting helped her to flip the switch from hating her body and wanting to shrink down to loving her body and having self-confidence. Most of us understand that powerlifting will help to get us physically stronger, but we don’t realize the mental and emotional benefits it has as well. Read Chrissy’s story to get inspired and learn about the many benefits of powerlifting.
Take Control of Your Recovery with Inside-Out Auto Regulation by Paul Oneid
Paul Oneid talks all about recovery in this article. He stresses the importance of recovery in order to perform at our best and to help reach our goals. He also overs over the “inside'-out” approach to recovery. There are many devices or measurement tools that can be used to gauge recovery such as HRV devices, sleep trackers, omega wave trackers, etc. However, rather than using those that in a sense are telling you how you feel, why not ask yourself “how do I feel?” Becoming more self-aware can help you fine tune your recovery. Be aware of your habits and behaviors. Ask yourself why you do these things and assess what you can improve on. Once you have a better understanding of your habits and behaviors, you can make modifications that can help to improve your recovery so that you can continue to progress and reach your goals.

If your physical therapist is consistently and primarily working with any of the passive modalities below, you should find another physical therapist. Research shows over and over again that these are not effective tools for treating patients. Find a physical therapist that follows the research, will get you moving, and help get you back to whatever activities you love to do.
Jordan Syatt gives us a great reminder to always stick with the plan. Even when things seem to be going no where or you went off track for a few days, the most useful thing you can do is continue to follow the plan. This goes for training too. Training and nutrition has its ups and downs because we are humans and not robots. Be consistent and stick the plan. The more consistent you are over a long-period of time, the greater the results will be in the end.
