The Resilient Training Lab Podcast: Episode 17

Today we have Dustin Lebel joining Paul and Ryan on the Resilient Training Lab Podcast. Dustin talks about how he focuses on the big rocks of training for his clients. He helps set them up for success by creating programs that are realistic and achievable. Most people don't have time to spend 2+ hours in the gym 6 times per week so handing them a program that requires those things will end up setting them up for failure. Dustin focuses on having his clients adhere to 3 strength training days, keeping their NEAT up, and focusing on lifestyle factors such as sleep, stress management, and nutrition. And these are all things that he has them work on over a long period of time. To make the most progress for the long term, it is important to start small and slow and build up from there. He explains that having people start with the basics and keeping them on 3 days of strength training per week leads to the most successes. With time, most people end up realizing on their own that they want to do more or that they want to start to build better habits surrounding exercise, sleep, and nutrition. Paul and Ryan also ask Dustin to talk about how things have changed since becoming a father 8 months ago. We think this is an important topic to discuss because it is a big life change; however, it shouldn't be one that derails ones exercise and healthy lifestyle habits. Staying the course and focusing on sticking to the program is important during the journey of new parenthood. This is a great episode for everyone to listen to, but I highly encourage any parents, new parents or really anyone who finds themselves with limited time to train to listen to this one.
