“I came to Paul in early 2019 after attempting and failing my second CPAT (Physical Agility Test to become A Firefighter) in a year for a job. After failing I was ready to throw in the towel and give up on my dream of becoming a firefighter all because I thought I could never pass. After every time I failed, I’d always get the speech from someone in the field: “I mean the failure rate for females is just really high. We want more females on the job but they’re just not able to pass the physical part, they’re just not strong enough” … Just not strong enough… Yeah right. I guess you hear it enough you start to believe it. Well I met the right person who DIDN’T believe it.
First time being introduced to the coaches at Resilient Training Lab the one thing they really wanted to hear was what were my goals and how together we could accomplish them. In their mind there is nothing you can’t do. I wanted to pass my CPAT. That was my goal. Without hesitation they created a program specific to my needs. Uncertain and skeptical I completed my first month and was in awe of them as personal trainers, as friends, as coaches. They understood every aspect of my test which no personal trainer I ever hired really understood. Every week their programming was built to make me stronger physically and mentally which for me was the most important part. RTL’s training has not only made me stronger but made me more confident in myself. In September I ran in a Ragnar race which if you asked me a year ago if I’d ever run more than 7 miles in a day, I’d say you were crazy I never classified myself as “runner”. But because of RTL’s programming I was able to run 17 miles in two days. Just one of many things I’ve accomplished because of RTL.
There is no way to put a dollar amount on the semi- private session, the emails, the educational seminars the encouraging community they have built. RTL’s programming not only teaches you how to be resilient, it teaches you discipline. It encourages you to be honest with yourself. It gives you confidence to make PR’s and celebrate them. All things you can use in and out of the gym.
I’ve been with RTL close to 10 months now. My original goal was to pass the test; because of Resilient Training Lab my goal now is not only to pass my CPAT but be able to pass the test anytime in my career as a firefighter, to be strong and to be resilient and to pave the way for other females who felt like I did starting out. Thank you Resilient Training Lab.” -Shani G.
