“Growing up, I was not an athlete, but in 2017 I competed in my first powerlifting competition; now, I am preparing to do my 5th in September 2019. I never imagined when I was first starting training with the Resilient team that I would be saying out loud that one of my goals is to deadlift 400lbs. Paul introduced me to one of my biggest passions, and I couldn't be more grateful. Powerlifting has made me a more resilient and confident person both physically and mentally; the Resilient coaches helped me discover that I enjoy working hard in the gym just like I do in other aspects of my life.
The list of people I trust is pretty short, but the Resilient team makes that list. They have empowered me to understand myself and my body and empowered me to make good decisions for myself both in the gym and outside as well. There are times when I struggle to leave my outside worries at the door, but the coaches never places any judgment if anyone has a tough day; they are encouraging and supportive and give me the right amount of push that I need. Working with Paul and the Resilient Training Lab coaches has reminded me that it is okay to be human but to be consistent and not to give up. The RTL team's knowledge, passion, and care for others shines through in his coaching, and I am incredibly fortunate to be one of their athletes. "- Kelsey
