"I have always had a love for picking up heavy things, pushing myself, and getting strong. Before starting to train with Paul, I was training with a mix of other trainers for ten years doing a blend of things- HIIT, lifting, running on the treadmill, and mindlessly using the elliptical machine. I was heavily involved in HIIT classes and enjoyed that and was good at it. The other part of the gym that I was a member of had a program that was specifically for lifting heavy and challenging yourself, so I gave that a try. Paul moved into coaching in that space a few months after I began there, and my training has not been the same since. I have learned that I can lift heavier than I even thought, and a few months after starting to train with him, I had signed up for my first powerlifting competition- that was an amazing experience.

Paul is kind, genuine, strong as hell, super smart, and will keep you motivated. The Resilient team checks-in with me outside of the gym, to see how my workouts are and if anything's bothering me. A lot of times, trainers are in the gym to give you a program, make sure you follow it, collect a check and walk away. The coaches at RTL are not like that. The Resilient team are great coaches, but they also know so much about the importance of sleep, nutrition, having the right kind of physician and physical therapist, mental health, etc. They make an effort to stay up to date with current research and share it with their clients. One of the remarkable things about the Resilient team is you never quite feel like 'just' a client with them. Once you get to know them well, you can't help but form a friendship with them.

I trained with Paul through two wrist surgeries and one pregnancy. I wouldn't have made it through my pregnancy without being able to train 5 days per week, and he made it possible. I stuck with my regular routine in the gym, until growing a baby made it necessary to modify things, and he did that seamlessly for me. I was lifting until the day before I went into the hospital to have my daughter. Lifting throughout my pregnancy, no doubt, made labor and recovery much easier. I knew I could do it because of the strength I had gained in the gym, both mentally and physically. When I would send him an email worrying that I hadn't made it back to the gym, he gently would remind me it had only been 6 weeks and gave me some at home things to do. The Resilient team has a real knack for getting to know you well and know exactly how to program for you. They know how to keep you healthy mentally as well, which is vital for overall health. Paul kept me going with tons of modifications through all of that- including a period when I couldn't use my left hand or left knee at all. Now, I am back to squatting, deadlifting, bench pressing, and am just about up to pushing 900# on the sled.

If you are looking for a coach, stop here. The programs that the RTL coaches create for you will no doubt push you further than you would have pushed yourself, and that spills over into everyday tasks. Before you know it, you're taking on bigger projects at work, able to shovel a ton more snow in the winter, or asking for a raise because they’ve taught you to expect more from yourself- and from others. The last few years with the Resilient team have been my best training years yet- even with surgeries and giving birth. Paul can do it all and is a real master of his craft; I have nothing but gratitude for him and the Resilient Training Lab team. " - Christina
