“I have been a competitive strength athlete for the past 11 years. Prior to working with the Resilient team, I focused all of my effort in the gym into becoming a bigger and stronger lifter, and little into becoming a more mobile and conditioned athlete. I did not have a physically demanding occupation at the time and never had to test my athletic ability beyond the expression of maximal strength output. A few years prior to working with RTL, I was plagued with chronic, systemic pain, and frequent injuries due to my limited mobility and lack of conditioning. I incorrectly believed that this was just a part of the process as a high-level strength athlete and trudged through it. I did not see the writing on the wall until I began my career as a firefighter. I quickly realized that I would have to diversify my efforts in the gym, as the demands of my job were too physically rigorous to only focus on being big and strong. After attempting to do things myself, I reached out to Paul for one-on-one coaching. I knew the Resilient team possessed a wide variety of knowledge, education, and credentials regarding how to develop well rounded, functional athletes. I also know that the RTL coaches are up-to-date on the latest research in strength and conditioning, and maintaining an evidence-based approach is at the forefront of their coaching philosophy. I was initially skeptical that I would be able to achieve my strength goals while doing an appreciable amount of cardiovascular and mobility work, but RTL proved me wrong. Their evidence-based approach fits in perfectly with my goals as a strength athlete. Not only did my competitive lifts continue to increase as I hoped for, but my aerobic capacity, mobility, ability to resist physical/mental fatigue, ability to handle training volume, and my mobility all dramatically improved. But above all else - my ability to perform at the highest level on the scene in emergency situations has become better than I could have ever imagined it could be.

Performance at work has now become my primary training goal, but I have not had to sacrifice any of my competitive goals thanks to the Resilient team’s knowledge and guidance. My program updates are always sent on time, and they often sent early. I never have to wait long for answers to any questions I have about new exercises or mobility work that we’re doing. The directions in my program are always clear and concise. The coaches value my feedback as an athlete and adjust our direction as my goals change. I cannot recommend Resilient Training Lab’s services as a strength and conditioning expert highly enough. I’ve been nothing but impressed to see what they’ve done with my conditioning and mobility programming and look forward to working with them soon to handle my strength programming as well. I have seen Paul’s personal progress and the progress of many of his strength clients that I know, and know that we’ll be able to achieve the same excellent results in that avenue as well. You can be a strong, mobile, AND aerobically fit athlete at the same time, and do not have to sacrifice one goal for the other.
