“I started training with Paul in January 2018 after I had rotator cuff surgery in November 2017. I worked with Eric Lagoy for Outpatient Physical Therapy after my surgery for a period of about 8-12 weeks. Eric then transitioned me over to Paul to continue to rehab my shoulder. On my first day with Paul, I showed up with my arm and shoulder wrapped in a sling and was not able to use my right shoulder or arm at all at that point. Paul took me in and worked with me by starting out with just lower body exercises to keep me moving in order to feel like I wasn’t completely falling out of shape. I had been an avid exerciser for many years but never felt comfortable in a weight room, lifting heavy weights, and testing my strength.

Paul was so patient in working with me for those first 6-8 months, as I remained very limited on what I could do. He slowly got me into working on rehabbing my shoulder once my doctor gave the OK. We worked slowly on building back muscle and flexibility to my right side. Before I knew it, my shoulder was back to its pre-operative strength, and this was accomplished without any setbacks and zero pain or discomfort. Paul was always there as well, reminding me that this recovery and rehab would not last forever, as there were moments in the beginning when I felt that I would not gain back strength or mobility. He encouraged me through my frustrations. Before I knew it, I was stronger than ever, shoulder, and all. Paul worked diligently and patiently with me in learning all of the ropes of weight lifting and working on my main lifts as well. This was not something I had anticipated, as I just thought I would work with him through my rehab. However, after seeing how smoothly my rehab went and how much stronger I became overall, I stuck with it.

Fast forward, two years later, since my rotator cuff surgery, and I can say without doubt or hesitation that I am stronger than I have ever been. I see it, and I feel it in everything that I do. The Resilient team always checks in and asks what I want to work on and where I want to focus my next goals. They stand by me with patience and encouragement. I would not have had the courage to learn these lifts and execute them without their coaching. The coaches even helped me gain full strength and better mobility back to my hip after experiencing some issues there as well. I can honestly say that without Resilient Training Lab and their coaching and programming, I would have stopped doing squats altogether because of the pain. A few months of working on my hip, and I have zero issues and zero pain.

I cannot recommend Resilient Training Lab enough. Before my surgery, I would have never seen myself where I am today. This is the best thing that I have done for myself. They will start with you wherever you are, and whatever shape you are with total encouragement and no judgment.” -Carissa
