The Resilient Training Lab Podcast: Episode 19

We are continuing our "Get to Know Your Coaches" series in episode 19. Ryan K talks to Ryan VanNieuwenhuyze about growing up with a personal trainer as a mom, staying active through combat sports and wrestling, and choosing physical therapy as his career path. Ryan Vann had a very early introduction to strength training by having his mom as a great role model and watching her train clients. He was introduced to the physical therapy world after getting injured wrestling and needing surgery and PT. He went on to shadow at physical therapy offices to see if it was something that he would want to do for a career. After 6 years of schooling at Quinnipiac, he started his physical therapy career. Ryan has had a variety of professional experience in different clinics and always knew that he wanted to eventually open his own clinic. He now owns Barbell Physical Therapy and Performance and works with Resilient Training Lab as a strength coach. We love his approach as a physical therapist, his use of the bio-psycho-social model, and how he communicates and educates his clients. Listen to this episode and get to know more about Ryan Van's background and his work today as a physical therapist.
