The Resilient Training Lab Podcast: Episode 14
We have physical therapist and fellow RTL coach, Eric Lagoy, back on the podcast for episode 14. This is part one of a two part episode about efficacy versus effectiveness. It is our responsibility as health professionals and coaches to ensure that we are doing our best to utilize practices that are efficacious and effective. Paul, Ryan, and Eric discuss that people come to fitness or health professionals for their knowledge and help; therefore, as professionals, we need to do our very best to actually be knowledgeable, look at the research, and learn the best ways to get the effects we are after. It is very easy to find things that confirm our own biases and to make money off of gimmicky methods, but it is our duty as fitness professions to avoid those things and to give our clients the most efficacious and effective methods. We need to actively look for information and research that challenges our own biases. It comes back to it being our own responsibility to do this work so that our clients are being served in the best possible way. This episode is filled with great information and is only half of the conversation. Paul, Ryan, and Eric got so carried away with the conversation that we had to make it a two part episode. Come back next week to hear everything else they have to say about this topic!
