“In early 2018 I lost my mom to breast cancer. I was devastated, to say the least. I mourned what I lost, what could have been, and what should have been. Coupled with other emotional challenges and a new job, 2018 knocked the breath out of me and brought me to my knees. I smiled, but I cried silent tears as sadness consumed me. But through it, all of my close friends, family, and gym family enabled me to put one foot in front of the other- my kettlebell sistas, coaches, and my Resilient Training Lab crew. But most of all I had Paul who kept me focused, motivated and helped me forget for a while 3-4x per week. The Resilient team challenged and inspired me to participate in a powerlifting competition, and boy, I sure did! They encouraged and cheered me on with each milestone I conquered. They told me, "it's supposed to be hard," and "People pay for those thighs!" Structured, personalized weight training became my therapy.
To the cancer survivors, both men and women, to those who continue to fight, those who lost the fight, and those left behind.- here is to being RESILIENT, setting new goals, showing up, and crushing them. 2019 is my year of rebirth, I'm physically and mentally stronger, and I'm thankful.” - Angella
